Erie Marketplace FAQ
Welcome to the Erie Marketplace FAQ page. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about how our platform works, how we stay affordable, and what makes us different.
Why is this website free to use?
Erie Marketplace is free because we believe buying and selling—especially locally—should be simple and accessible.
In the future, we plan to generate income through business advertising, which will help cover the costs of running and maintaining the website.
The only exception is our Digital Goods category, where we charge a very small listing fee of $1 per listing for one month. This helps support the platform while keeping costs extremely low for digital creators.
Are you really an Erie-run website, or are you operating from another state like other platforms?
Yes — Erie Marketplace is truly run from Erie, Pennsylvania.
We are not a large corporation operating from another state or country. Erie Marketplace was created to support local commerce and digital creators, while also allowing nationwide participation.
Our roots are local, and that matters to us.
Are there any fees once my item sells?
Nope.
There are no fees when your item sells.
- No commissions
- No percentage cuts
- No surprise charges
What you earn from your sale is yours.
Can I include affiliate links in my digital goods?
Yes, affiliate links are allowed in digital products listed on Erie Marketplace.
However, we strongly recommend moderation. Many buyers do not like paying for a digital product that is overloaded with affiliate links. Keep links limited and relevant to the value of your product.
Also, please note:
- Platforms like Amazon have strict rules regarding how their affiliate links can be used.
- It is your responsibility to understand and follow those rules.
- Erie Marketplace is not responsible for user-posted affiliate links or violations of third-party affiliate programs.
